Cosmetics - skin

The history of cosmetic rituals and products is very rich. Whether it was the famous Cleopatra, who enjoyed baths with donkey milk and honey and used cosmetics as protection from the sun. Or it was the Middle Ages, when people covered up strong odours with cosmetics and heavy powders. Or the 70s full of curling iron hairstyles and the first solariums. And today in 2026, science can repair skin at the cellular level..

The history and present of cosmetics is fascinating. This field combines artistic feeling, scientific research, the psychological side and considerable business interest. But it must be remembered that this is not about vanity. Cosmetics is about deeper self-care, health, celebration of uniqueness and healthy self-confidence.

Did you know that the word cosmetics comes from the Greek words "kosmetike" - the art of beautifying and "kosmeo" - I decorate?

Cosmetics and cosmetics

Basic division:

  • Decorative cosmetics (beautifying process - decorates parts of the face, make-up)
  • Skin Care Routine (care part - keeps the skin clean and healthy, skin cleansing, nourishing creams, serums)

What skin types are there?

At the beginning, it is good to know what your skin type is. Then you can choose the right way to take care of yourself. Thanks to this, your skin will then thrive and unpleasant feelings will be a thing of the past.

Can skin type change?

Yes. Skin type is added to people`s genetic cocktail from the beginning, but it can change throughout life. The main factors influencing such changes are hormones(puberty, pregnancy, menopause or stopping contraception). Each such reversal can be temporary or permanent.

Main skin types:

  • normal
  • dry
  • oily
  • combination

Dry skin

When touched, the surface feels dry, rougher, flakes form, sometimes a feeling of tension. The skin reacts to weather fluctuations or poorly chosen cosmetics. Dry skin lacks hydration and protective lipids.

Oily skin

Anyone who struggles with oily skin knows that there is a higher production of sebum. The skin becomes more shiny and more prone to imperfections such as acne and pimples. The pores are enlarged and visible.

Combination skin

Combination skin can suffer from imbalance. There are noticeably oilier areas, especially in the T-zone area (oily forehead, nose and chin) and dry areas and scales on the cheeks or sides of the nose.

Normal skin

It is a win, but even here, appropriate care is needed for balance and long-lasting fresh and glowing skin.

Other specific skin manifestations and characteristics

Mature skin

It is a condition that every skin type naturally reaches. Due to the loss of collagen and elastin, the skin gradually loses its firmness over time. The skin appears thinner and wrinkles are more visible.

Sensitive skin

It reacts intensely to changes in weather, stress and some cosmetic ingredients. This also includes redness of the skin. Sensitive skin may experience tingling sensations and increased sensitivity to perfume.

Problematic skin

This is a temporary situation that is not written into the genetic code. The skin is more prone to acne, excessive sebum production clogs pores and causes more frequent skin inflammation. It affects oily skin the most, but also combination skin.

Skin Care Routine

It is a daily ritual, where in a few steps we cleanse the skin properly in the morning and evening and provide a caring treatment with suitable products. The ideal products need to be chosen according to your skin type. For each skin type, we will bring inspiration for the right skin care routine in each part. And as a bonus, such a daily ritual can also become a pleasant psychological cleansing.

1) Cleansing – CLEANSE

We always start by removing makeup and only then continue with cleansing the skin.

Products suitable for removing makeup:

  • two-phase makeup remover
  • facial makeup remover
  • micellar water
  • makeup remover oils

Products suitable for cleansing the face:

  • cleansing gel
  • cleansing creams
  • cleansing foams

2) Final cleansing and toning – TONE

The tonic removes the last traces of impurities from the skin, balances the pH of the skin and is then perfectly prepared to absorb all other beneficial substances.

Products:

  • tonic
  • rose water
  • micellar water

3) Targeted skin treatment – TREAT

This step includes:

  • skin serums
  • special fluids
  • face masks

These products have a higher concentration of specific active ingredients. It is a special treatment that will give the skin an extra boost of what it needs: hydration, brightening, smoothing anti-wrinkle effect or soothing care.

4) Moisture delivery – HYDRATE

Finally, the skin needs to be treated with a moisturising portion of a suitable product, that will lock moisture in the skin and then it will be fresh, soft, brightened – simply beautiful.

Products:

  • hydrating creams
  • light skin gels
  • caring sorbets
  • nourishing oils
  • skin SPF

What ingredients and substances rule the world of cosmetics?

Aloe vera, colostrum, hyaluronic acid, panthenol, collagen, retinol,… this is just a small list of substances and ingredients used in cosmetics. There are many more. Each ingredient has its own properties and, when used correctly, can work wonders for the skin. But how to use them correctly? What skin type is best suited? We know that they provide the skin with, for example, hydration, rejuvenation, brightening, mattifying… And all this interesting information deserves the space of an entire section.

Cosmetics – body

Body cosmeticslike facial cosmetics, offer many options and ways to, take care of your body. The skin on the body has a thicker layer, which makes it more resistant and allows for denser and more nutritious treatments. But here too, skin types are divided, similar to skin types and with specific manifestations.

Normal, dry to extremely dry, oily, combination

Other specific conditions that are addressed regarding body skin are:

  • cellulite/firming
  • scars/stretch marks
  • atopic skin
  • "strawberry skin" - rough skin in the leg and arm area
  • foot and hand care
